Focusing on drones as devices of scary military surveillance and execution ignores the entire field of consumer drones--which are, basically, next-generation remote-controlled helicopters. One of the fields that's seeing the most benefit from the new world of drones is photography--suddenly, combined with tiny, amazingly capable cameras, drones can accomplish what in years past you'd need tens of thousands of dollars of crane setups and cameras to do--for only a few hundred bucks.
